FRISCO, Texas – Wrapping up the regular season and closing out the SLC Pair of the Week awards were
Lizzie Denyer and
Ashlyn Rough of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team as they were honored in the final week by the league office.
Denyer and Rough earned the accolade for the first time this season as the fourth different pair to win it. The Islanders won five of the eight Pair of the Weeks this year, with
Madison Morrow/
Kristin Bobay,
Maria Duda Fernandes de Melo/
Millie Olsson (2), and
Mia Stevens/
Saskia Hernandez all being recognized earlier this season.
Denyer and Rough takes home the honor after posting a 3-1 record over the final regular season weekend. They swept their wins over Southeastern, Central Arkansas, and Nicholls, and nearly posted the perfect weekend after a tight three-setter with #12 LSU that could've gone either way in a 24-22, 20-22, 17-19 dual.
The Islanders will now look towards the SLC Championships which they will host April 22-24 at Water's Edge Park. The program will be the No. 1 seed with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
