CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team completed a perfect weekend at the 2026 Islanders Classic, presented by Fulton Coastcon General Contractors, on Saturday afternoon, downing Pepperdine in the opener and then turning around and sweeping ULM to close things out with an undefeated record on its home turf.
The Islanders (17-8) finished as the lone team in their own tournament to go 4-0, finishing just above Pepperdine at 3-1 after handing the Waves their only loss of the weekend. Cal State Bakersfield finished third with an even 2-2 record, while Tarleton State and ULM followed behind at 1-3 and 0-4 respectively.
With the pair of wins on Saturday, A&M-Corpus Christi increased its current streak up to 12, not dropping a match since the opener of the Stetson Spring Invitational against FGCU back on March 13. After that point, the team won the final three games of that tournament before then sweeping its way through both the Southland Conference Midseason Tournament and the Islanders Classic.
The first match of the day for the Islanders was the most anticipated of the tournament, as they and the Waves entered play with a perfect combined record of 5-0 over the weekend to that point. In the heavyweight showdown, it was A&M-Corpus Christi that jumped out to a strong start, securing the first point with a 21-18, 21-16 win from the pair of
Mia Stevens and
Saskia Hernandez at No. 4 before then winning another dual at No. 2 when
Maria Duda Fernandes de Melo and
Millie Olsson earned a 21-19, 21-12 victory. This put the team just one more win away from securing the match, which it promptly got at the top flight from
Kristin Bobay and
Madison Morrow when they knocked off Pepperdine's No. 1 in two 21-16 sets.
This victory led into the Islanders' final match against the WarHawks, where they were able to stay hot by earning their first sweep of the weekend to put the cherry on top of a fantastic tournament. This time around, Fernandes de Melo and Olsson earned the first win at No. 2, doing so with a dominant 21-12, 21-6 performance. Stevens and Hernandez then followed closely behind at No. 4 with a set count of 21-16, 21-19, and Bobay and Morrow locked things up for the second straight match at No. 1 with a 21-9, 21-18 win.
With the victory already in hand, A&M-Corpus Christi still managed to add onto its total for the match, first with a 21-12, 21-14 triumph at No. 3 from
Bryce Ranney and
Mille Maxwell-Berthou. Now on the verge of the sweep, the Islanders turned to
Lizzie Denyer and
Ashlyn Rough at No. 5, and they got the job done in straight sets with a 21-16, 21-15 victory.
Like in the opening day on Friday, every single pair for the Islanders picked up at least one win on the afternoon, with Bobay and Morrow, Fernandes de Melo and Olsson and Stevens and Hernandez all leading the way with two. For Stevens and Hernandez, this secured them a perfect weekend, as they also emerged victorious in their matches against Cal State Bakersfield and Tarleton State the day before to finish 4-0 in total.
The Islanders will now take part in their final event of the regular season next weekend, traveling to Baton Rouge to square off against Nicholls, LSU, Central Arkansas and Southeastern in the Battle on the Bayou.
